Bonus Post- Wedding Song

In August I went to a wedding and the song the couple danced to as "their song" was the same as our song which prompted me to reach out to my husband who was unable to attend the out of town event. It took a bit for us to decide on the song we would dance to at our wedding but I am happy to say even with the song being as popular as it was, I am glad it was our wedding song. This song was also very fitting because one of the other Lifehouse songs were a big contender and a relationship song for us...

                                                   "You And Me" by Lifehouse

What day is it? And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive
I can't keep up and I can't back down
I've been losing so much time

'Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do, nothing to lose
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you

All of the things that I want to say just aren't coming out right
I'm tripping on words
You got my head spinning
I don't know where to go from here

'Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do, nothing to prove
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you

Something about you now
I can't quite figure out
Everything she does is beautiful
Everything she does is right

'Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do, nothing to lose
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you

And me and all of the people with nothing to do and nothing to prove
And it's you and me and all of the people
And I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you

What day is it?
And in what month?
This clock never seemed so alive

2013 Catch Up

This year has been fairly busy for the Owoseni Family and I have neglected to keep up with the blog. Here is a run-down of 2013 for us:

  • Kelly started a new position at Integra mid-year.
  • Between the two of us we have traveled to: NY, Nigeria, CA, ID, and LV this year so far.
  • Brian and I celebrated our 29th birthdays this year. Just about 7 months to the big 3-0.
  • We attempted a trip to visit family in Nigeria in which only Brian was able to go on the trip due to a paperwork issue.
  • We purchased our first home- a town home in North Salt Lake, UT.
  • We hosted a housewarming party in August.
  • We are working on growing our family to 3.
  • We are also considering furthering our educations to assist in obtaining better jobs.
  • Kelly has been working on a photography start up and has had a few sessions already.
  • Fun times were spent over the summer with friends.
Overall it has been a busy and fun year so far for Brian and I. I look forward to writing about on-going events as 2013 turns into 2014 and then continuing to write and update beyond that point.

Sunday, December 30, 2012

Upon further reflection on the last Sunday of 2012 I wanted to start a blog to share with friends and family funny stories, pictures, etc... but also allow for a place I can record the memories of our family. Let's start with a little about myself...

I am truly a NY girl at heart. I love the city, the lights, all the hustle and bustle.  Having spent the first 25 years of my life 30 minutes away from NYC on Long Island I have a very open mind in regards to others and their opinions.

I love to read and write and will always prefer the smell of a new book in comparison to a digital book. I love to hang out with friends, go to the movies, listen to music, go hiking and exploring, crafting (from scrap-booking to creating decor) and have recently started taking more of an interest in building my cooking skills. I value education and am always looking to learn something new. One day I would love to travel out of the country and would love to spend some time in Europe, and more specifically some time in Ireland.

Photography has always been an interest of mine from when I received my very first camera  a 110 mickey mouse camera given to me for Christmas as a child. Since then I have had experience with multiple types of cameras and also experience developing my own film. My dream house would include a darkroom.  Currently I am working on building up a photography business of my own and have been delving into the digital photography world.

As this blog is about my life and family with my husband, Brian Owoseni- I should probably talk a bit about how we had met.

Brian and were both going to SUNY Farmingdale in Farmingdale, NY when we met. I originally met him in 2002 when I started college. He was the RA (resident assistant) that my roommate would constantly go to for help. Fast Forward to 2005 when I returned to SUNY Farmingdale after a stint away at another college and this is when my husband and I initially started talking and hanging out more. In the summer of 2005 I returned to SUNY Farmingdale to continue my journey for my Bachelors degree and upon my return the college I became an RA. Having been to the college a year before I did know some of the people I was working with as an RA but he was one of the ones I distinctly remembered and we ended up hanging out a lot.

As Brian was in my comfort zone I spent a lot of time with him and after 3 months we had a discussion on where this was going. I admitted I saw us as just friends but almost immediately realized I thought more of him than I was admitting. It took us an additional month of going back and forth for me to finally admit to him I liked him and the rest is history. Six years later, on August 13, 2011- Brian and I married and our family was established- Welcome to the stories and adventures of the Owoseni Family.
